Apprentice Positions: What types of apprentices are there?

 

  • The County offers Apprentice and Veteran Apprentice positions, depending on veteran eligibility, with full-time and part-time work schedules to be determined by the applicant and sponsoring department. All appointments work in an at-will status at the discretion of the appointing authority and only receive benefits offered to TAP employees as outlined in the TAP Handbook (see section VI).
    • Apprentices are employed by the Human Resources Department’s Temporary Assignment Program and hold the following classification:   
      • Apprentice (Class Code: 13954) 

    • Veteran Apprentices are employed by the Human Resources Department’s Temporary Assignment Program and hold the following classification:    

      • Veteran Apprentices (Class Code: 13955)  

      • Require veteran eligibility determined by the County of Riverside Human Resources Department  

      • Must submit a DD-214 or NGB-22 Certificate of Release from Active Duty (minimum of 90 days) in the Unites States Military with an honorable discharge and a letter of service-related disability, if applicable, to be deemed veteran eligible. 

  • Apprentices may not be substituted for candidates who have qualified for a County position through examination and are awaiting appointment from an employment list.
